Inspiration Thursday & Lady B Talks Social Media

“It isn’t Saturday, you know, Miss MacLean.”

I know this, of course, because I have about thirty different ways of looking at a calendar, but I know better than to say that to Lady B. “I thought it might be fun to show some of my inspiration for my books today, Lady B. I know it’s an unexpected thing for a Thursday, but who needs a Saturday Salon for a slideshow?”

“A what now?”

Jason Statham, just hanging around.“A slide show. It’s a…” I hesitate. “Nevermind. Have a look at this.”

“Oh, my.”

“I know.”

“He’s quite handsome.”

“He is. And he’s the inspiration for Temple.”

“You mean the Killer Duke?”

“Precisely.”

“The fighter.”

“The very same.”

“My goodness, Miss MacLean, you do always bring the scandal to the ballroom.”

“I do what I can, my lady.”

“I’m afraid I can’t have the Killer Duke in the house. Lord B would have a difficult time with it.”

“I assure you, Lady B, Temple wouldn’t dream of coming here.”

Lady B’s gaze narrows. “And why is that? He can’t possibly think he’s too good for us.”

“Oh, no, he doesn’t,” I rush to assure her. “He just knows…well…his place.”

“And that is?”

“The boxing ring of The Fallen Angel.”

Her voice goes quiet and fills with scandal. “The casino.”

“The very same.”

“You’re familiar with it?”

“I am…it’s very…memorable.”

“Why is that?”

“Well, the art for one.”

Lady B looks skeptical. She hadn’t been looking for that answer, clearly. “The art.” She’d been looking for something more scandalous.

Henry Fuseli's The Nightmare

Henry Fuseli’s The Nightmare

“Absolutely. Take this painting, on the wall of Cross’s office.”

“Good heavens! The Earl could use something slightly less…macabre now that his wife is increasing, don’t you think?”

I smile. “Well, the Countess of Harlow doesn’t exactly mind it.”

“No,” Lady B says, “She’s an odd enough girl that she would like it.”

Prometheus & ZeusI’m pointing to another picture. “This one is in a room off the Duke’s chamber.”

Her brow rises. “And why would you know anything about the Duke’s chamber?”

I blush. “Suffice to say, I’ve spent some time in there.”

“With a killer?”

“He’s a very nice killer.”

She does not look like she believes me. “Nice.”

“Well, to me.”

“I hear he likes ladies of a…certain ilk.”

I’m fairly certain I’ve been insulted, because Temple is a halfway decent guy and doesn’t mistreat the prostitutes as the club, but I decide not to get into it with Lady B. “The point is, Lady B…I’m writing, and I need stuff like this to help move me forward. In fact, I keep them all in one dedicated location.”

“Oh, yes. I’ve heard you all speaking of that. Thanks to your Inner Netting. And your Parasols.”

I am used to Lady B discussing the Internet, but the rest…I blink. “Our parasols?”

She waves a hand. “Or your petticoats. Or pincushions. Something like that.”

My brow furrows. And you didn’t think that sounded off?

She cuts me a look. “It’s not as though you authoresses haven’t sounded off before, Miss MacLean.”

It’s a fair point. “I think you mean Pinterest.”

“Oh, and that doesn’t sound off?”

Do you guys use Pinterest? I’m obsessed with it. If so, what do you use it for? If not, what social media stuff do you use? (Besides hanging out here, of course!)

I have kept off it so far. My niece loves it! She says it is more fun than Facebook. To me, it would be another thing to fill up time. Come to think of it, maybe I should join. If I am bored, I think about eating & if I had something like Pinterest, then it could be like a diet aid. ;-) (Anything in a storm to help, right?)

I can’t wait to read this book & I love to have a face to the hero. Someone had a red headed hero in her book & I kept picturing Damien Lewis. I adore Jason & get such a big kick from his movies. The man doesn’t need to carry weapons because his body is one!

I have a “Fat Girl Slim” board on Pinterest, Jaime…I don’t know that it helps, but it’s fun to think it will!

As for that redheaded hero…I think you might be talking about Cross! A lot of readers have told me that they, too, thought of Damien Lewis…that’s fine with me!

      :)

I’m not on pinterest, but I know a lot of my friends who are and love it. I can totally see why authors love it-great way to keep track of inspiration photos, research, etc. Mostly, I’m on Twitter, which is totally addictive! I’m on there way more than is healthy. I used to be a big FB user, but I’ve really stepped away from that. It’s become way too complicated to use, and all the privacy issues make me wary,

I’ve started Pinterest, but haven’t had the oportunitiy to really get into it yet. I love Twitter and Goodreads so am on those a lot. Not on Facebook at all. Loved all your pins for inspirations for the Scoundrels!

Pinterest is completely addicting. It’s like shopping in a huge virtual closet. I have more pictures and recipes of delicious food than I can eat or make.
And of course there are the pictures of the men….

    Hi Sarah,
I actually saw Temple in my mind’s eye as being a tad larger and broader but Jason will do as inspiration. ; )

I love Pinterest. I try not to go there too often because I can end up spending entirely too much time there. I use it to share books, places I’d love to live or visit and my writing inspiration, as well just browsing. Some great tips, recipes, and around the house inspirations too. I just keep wondering why I never thought of a site like that. LOL!

    Happy pinning my dears!

No Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter for me…I’m happy enough with my book blogs! I loved reading Cross’s story and am looking forward to Temple’s. Thanks for a fun post.

I love Pinterest!!! I have been addicted to this website for almost a year. I mainly use it for the recipes……but I do love to look at all the fashion!
I also use it to buy gifts – i check out my friends boards then try to find something based on an item they pinned.

my sister is starting a blog based on Pinterest called pin me or pin me not (http://pinmepinmenot.com)
She takes a pin, does it, then rates it. She does the work so you do not have too.

I love social media and seeing how different people use it. This blog has introduced me to so many different authors. It has been great!! Thanks!!

I don’t have Pinterest, and I don’t think I will get it, I’ve got too much to keep up with! I have facebook and twitter.
I also started a blog about romance books. I just love yapping about them too much lol

Sorry I’m so late to the party Sarah! I love pinterest — I had one while I was planning my wedding, and found it SO handy — I just took my ipad into my meetings with vendors and showed them my pinterest board and I didn’t have to lug around a binder of picture printouts.

However, since then, I have decidedly laid off the pinning. It’s just too tempting of a thing!

Besides this site I am on Goodreads but I never use it. I don’t have a FB or Twitter and refuse to get either. My addiction is GetGlue. I love this site it so awesome. I have met a lot of new people. I can talk about almost everything I do and there is free stickers.
