Tessa (rushes into the ballroom with an armful of books): Now, Lady B. Don’t panic.
Lady B: Miss Dare, I never panic.
Tessa: I suppose it’s just me, then. I panic all the time. I know it’s already halfway through August, but I wanted you to know there’s still time to participate in Read-a-Romance Month.
Lady B: Read a Romance month? But Miss Dare, that’s every month of the year in the Ballroom. No matter the season, I am regaled with the stories and characters you and the other authoresses dream up.
Tessa: Yes, but I feel badly that our books are all written some 200 years after your time. I thought perhaps you’d like to relax with a romance that’s already in print in your time. That’s why I’ve brought these.
(Tessa spills her armload of books onto the settee. Here they are, with links to the free full-text versions, in case you’re curious to read any of them them yourself!)
National Read-a-Romance month has a website with three posts every day in August, all from romance authors explaining why “Romance Matters” to them, to readers, and to the world. There are even great contests and giveaways for readers to enter!
In celebration, I’ll send one lucky winner a “Romance Rocks” coffee mug from the Read-A-Romance-Month online shop:
Entering’s easy! Just tell Lady B which romance you’re reading this month.
