Have you seen the buzz for this new film, Gravity?
So many reasons why I want to see this!
- Alfonso Cuaron! Auteur of what was hands-down the best Potter film. And some other great movies.
- CLOONEY. Almost 30 years after he was a cutie on Facts of Life, and I’m still in love with Clooney
- I’m… okay with Sandra Bullock, if not in love with her.
- The reviews! The reviews are (hur, hur) out-of-this-world amazing.
Unfortunately there’s exactly one reason why I don’t want to see this movie. It’s this:
MY 90-MINUTE PANIC ATTACK.
I have a serious phobia of limited air supply situations. Ever since I tried (and failed, on the first day) scuba diving certification, I can not deal with watching people attached to a dwindling air tank. Underwater, in space, in submarines… It makes me hyperventilate and want to throw up. And of course, that appears to be the entire plot of this movie. Sigh.
While I decide whether I can woman-up and drag myself to what’s being buzzed as the cinematic event of my lifetime, do any of you have similar phobias that inhibit your enjoyment of certain movies, TV shows, or books?
Any suggestions for getting through it, if I do go?
